Who’s Your Baghdaddy Releases Original Cast Recording
“It takes a particular kind of vocal talent to convey satire even on a cast album, and in this regard, Baghdaddy has an embarrassment of riches… The scene-stealer of the group, though, has to be Caldwell, whose Richart believes (and sings like) he’s some combination of Sherlock Holmes and Anatole Kuragin but actually is a mildly incompetent pencil-pusher desperate to please. ‘Das Man’ is so deliciously obnoxious, but you can’t help feeling for this guy.” — Broadway World
The original cast recording for Who’s Your Baghdaddy, Or How I Started the Iraq War is now available for purchase on Broadway Records. The recording features the cast of the show’s 2017 Off-Broadway production, including 2018 Tony Nominee Ethan Slater (SpongeBob Squarepants), Larisa Oleynik (Mad Men), Brennan Caldwell (NBC’s The Sing-Off), Jason Collins (Annie on tour), Brandon Espinoza (Tuck Everlasting, Gypsy), Joe Joseph (Regional: Curse of the Spider Woman), and Claire Neumann (Triassic Parq).
Neurosis: A Musical That Gets In Your Head At The DR2 Theatre
“Frank’s human subtext, bluntly named Neurosis, is played with zesty razzle-dazzle by Brennan Caldwell. A highlight of director Andy Sandberg’s bubbly production, and especially Shea Sullivan’s snazzy choreography, is how [Kevin] Zak and Caldwell interact with each other with the brisk physicality of a well-oiled vaudeville machine.” — Broadway World
Brennan starred in the title role of the off-Broadway musical Neurosis. A modern musical comedy with a psychiatric twist, Neurosis is a story about finding happiness, falling in love, and dealing with that little voice in your head along the way.
Neurosis features a book by Allan Rice, music by Ben Green, lyrics by Greg Edwards, and musical direction by David Aaron Brown. Andy Sandberg directed and Shea Sullivan choreographed. The production starred Jennifer Blood as Abby, Joel Blum as Kenny, Brennan Caldwell as Neurosis, Susan J. Jacks as Geri, Lacretta as Samantha, Morgan Weed as Neurosalina, and Kevin Zak as Frank. The creative team included Charlie Corcoran (scenic design), Jake DeGroot (lighting design), Michael McDonald (costume design), and David Sanderson (sound design).

Baghdaddy Off-Broadway
Baghdaddy, a musical by Marshall Pailet and A.D. Penedo, enjoyed a successful run off-Broadway at St. Luke’s Theatre. “The show begins in a church basement, where disgraced spies, along with the unwitting audience, gather for a support group meeting. The action soon shifts to Frankfurt Airport, where a mysterious Iraqi defector claims he built secret Iraqi bio-weapons labs. At CIA headquarters, our other characters are contending with their own ambitions, rash decisions, inflexible bosses, unrequited affections and unremitting boredom, when a fax arrives from Germany, and with it a golden opportunity. If the defector's story holds up, it will be the ticket out of the basement and into a corner office. It's all fun and games until the looming cataclysm changes everything.”
Brennan was honored to be a part of the show, described by the New York Times as “an important, cunning, rock-solid musical comedy with a terrible title.” Check out this story about the conception of the show in Playbill Check out the story on the conception of the musical in Playbill.
